This Labor Day weekend, URG Restaurants once again showed their unwavering support for Fairways for Warriors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting wounded veterans through the power of golf. We’re thrilled to share that, with the help of our amazing guests, we raised over $1,000 to continue our commitment to this incredible cause!

URG Announces Two Internal Promotions to GM Roles
Glen Allen, September 08, 2023 – United Restaurant Group, a leading franchisee of TGI Fridays with a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic region, is proud to announce the well-deserved promotions of Josie Woodall and Thomas Weston to the position of General Manager.
Josie Woodall, now General Manager in Wilmington, Delaware, has an exceptional career path within the URG family. Her journey began in 2007 as a bartender in New Castle, and her dedication to learning and leadership quickly propelled her through the ranks. Josie has managed multiple TGI Fridays locations across Delaware, including Newark and Dover, consistently driving operational excellence and fostering team cohesion. Beyond her professional achievements, Josie is a devoted spouse and parent to three children, two dogs, and a cat, reflecting her strong family values. Her passion for creating lasting memories both in her personal life and her professional career truly sets her apart. Josie’s promotion to General Manager is a testament to her unwavering commitment and exemplary leadership within the company.
In addition to Josie Woodall’s promotion, URG is thrilled to announce the elevation of Thomas Weston to the role of General Manager. Thomas, originally from Brooklyn, New York, and a Long Island resident since childhood, has a remarkable career journey within the URG family. He began his career with the company in 1998 and played a crucial role in opening the Chesapeake TGI Fridays location. His dedication and hard work led to his promotion as Kitchen Manager in 2022, and today, he proudly assumes the position of General Manager. Thomas’s commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences, coupled with his dedication to family life, makes him an exemplary leader in the hospitality industry.

URG Fundraiser for All Pro Dad
Glen Allen, July 27, 2023 – United Restaurant Group (URG), is hosting a car wash on August 5th, 2023 at the Newport News, Virginia TGI Fridays location from 8:00 am to 11:00 am to raise money for All Pro Dad. All Pro Dad is a national organization that provides resources and support to fathers and father figures.
“We are excited to partner with All Pro Dad to raise money for this important organization,” said Jimmy Cabanban, VP of Operations for URG “We believe that all fathers deserve the support they need to be successful, and All Pro Dad provides that support.”
All Pro Dad is a prominent fatherhood program operated by Family First, dedicated to providing practical parenting guidance to numerous men on a daily basis. The initiative collaborates with NFL players, coaches, and alumni who passionately advocate for the significance of fatherhood. Utilizing various channels, such as free daily emails, school-based breakfasts, social networking platforms, and nationwide NFL events, All Pro Dad equips men with valuable tools to positively impact the lives of their children and families.

URG Supports Fairways for Warriors
Glen Allen, June 19, 2023 – United Restaurant Group is pleased to partner with Fairways for Warriors. They are a fantastic non-profit group of veterans assisting veterans that have seen combat resulting in seen and unseen wounds.
Through golf tournaments, swing clinics, and social gatherings for veterans and partners, Fairways for Warriors builds funds to help with everyday expenses that may be a challenge to some of our heroes returning home. One of the most impressive accomplishments of this great group is that 90% of the funds raised go directly to the veterans they serve.

Welcome Back Alpha
Glen Allen, VA, May 12, 2023 – United Restaurant Group is pleased to announce the return of Alpha Loucar as the General Manager of the Henrico, Virginia TGI Fridays location.
Hailing from Senegal, Loucar first joined TGI Fridays in 2015 as a kitchen manager before moving on to Five Guys as a staff trainer. “We are thrilled to have him back, he’s truly an asset to the company,” said Jimmy Cabanban, Vice President of Operations at United Restaurant Group. Outside of work, Alpha, who is married with three girls and two boys, enjoys sharing his passion for soccer with his children and his community.
Experienced GM Joins the Team
Glen Allen, VA, November 21, 2022 – United Restaurant Group is delighted to welcome their newest General Manager, Eric Johnson, who will run the operation at their Williamsburg TGI Fridays restaurant.
Originally from Clinton, MD, Eric moved to Virginia in 2020, where he started working in the hospitality industry. With unmatched drive and a willingness to learn, Eric excelled and soon became one of the youngest GMs at Papa Johns. Following his time at Papa Johns, he became the Food Service Director at the Walter Reed Military Hospital. After several years at the hospital, Eric returned to the private sector to work for Chic-Fil-A as a Foodservice Director. In 2020, he joined Applebees as the GM in Newport News, where he sharpened his skills in the casual dining arena.
Married and a father of 3 boys. He enjoys watching football and rooting for his New York Giants.

Free Lunch for Veterans this Veterans Day
Glen Allen, November 10, 2022 – United Restaurant Group and TGI Fridays will celebrate this Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th, by providing free lunch to all US Veterans and active duty military personnel. This special promotion will run Friday, November 11th, from 11 am – 2 pm and includes a special lunch menu.
